Next week my team and I are starting our Nocturnal Animal Unit. One of my reading groups needs more practice with beginning and ending sounds. This is something I made for this group. First, I love to practice what we are learning using a pocket chart. I am going to place the pictures you see above in the pocket chart and have volunteers come up and help find the beginning and then ending sound. They will place the beginning sound to the left of the picture and the ending sound to the right of the picture. I have made letters to go along with this part.
After practicing and when I feel they are ready... into a literacy station it will go! I plan on making the bats into a book (you know how I love to laminate and bind my stuff :) and have the children use foam or magnetic letters in the boxes. If you don't have letters, you can always have them write using dry erase markers. I have made a recording sheet to go along with the activity. If you would like a copy of my activity, please click on the picture above.
